Austral’s wealth of experience in marine construction, expertise
in wharves, jetties, marinas, boat ramps and mooring systems makes
it the perfect choice for over-water piling projects.
Thiess Construction engaged Austral Construction in the Fremantle
Port upgrade project. Austral utilized the BSP hydraulic hammer
CX110 supplied by ThyssenKrupp Steelcom, to drive the test piles
into the ocean bed for the extension of the Fremantle container
wharf.
The BSP CX110 hammer is designed to operate from piling rig leaders
or crane suspended and is suitable to drive a wide variety of bearing
piles. For this project, Austral suspended the piling hammer from
a crane.
Six steel tube piles approx 900mm x 60m were used for this trial.
The scope of work included the deepening of the Inner Harbour and
associated berth works which will enable the port to accept larger
ships with increased drafts, thereafter enhancing the efficiency
of the port.
The trial will also be used to test the removal of a redundant
undersea retaining wall as well as concrete cutting methods to
remove the existing Berth 10 wharf deck.
This hammer will be available for sale or hire at the completion
of this contract. See Used Equipment Sales for more information.
ThyssenKrupp Steelcom offers total piling solutions including
hire and sell of steel sheet piles, impact and vibratory piling
hammers ranging from excavator mounted to large crane suspended
units, as well as, foundation equipment and most recently added
to our range trench boxes and shoring systems.
