Cairns Esplanade
Queensland
Type 314 pile breaker breaking 300 and 600 mm diameter piles.
The Cairns City Council renewed the Cairns waterfront to incorporate
a swimming lagoon, recreational area and increased open parkland.
The 4000 sqm. swimming lagoon features deepwater areas 1.2m to
1.5m and is surrounded by sandy beaches and ledges for sitting.
A huge concrete box drain runs under the swimming lagoon to carry
run-off from the storm water drains of the city and the Pier car
park. The box drain rests on 75 x 600mm diameter piles. The swimming
pool itself rests on 175 x 400mm diameter piles.
Taets Pile Breakers were used to make easy work of the cast in-situ
concrete piles of the box drain and swimming pool. A Type 314 circular
pile breaker with infill links was used to break both the 400mm
and 600mm diameter piles.
