TAETS 380 Pile Breakers
Circular pile breaker
Pile breakers dramatically increase productivity and safety when
compared to conventional jack-hammer breaking.
Thyssenkrupp Steelcom has supplied Abigroup the TAETS Type 380
required for the breaking of up to 400 concrete piles at the Kooragang
Island project, some of which have a strength of 50 MPa and 10
reinforcement bars. The concrete piles ranged from 600mm to 900mm
in diameter.
The TAETS Type 380 performed very well in this job. The minimum
diameter that the 380 can crush is 550mm. For this particular job
it was breaking four (4) concrete piles in 20 minutes.
The circular units are highly modular and easy to adjust to each
pile diameter on-site and can be fitted on a 20t excavator and
operated with its hydraulic system.
The breaking will leave the reinforcement intact and guarantees
no cracks below the cut off level. The breaking process is many
times faster than conventional breaking and is fully controlled
throughout it’s operation. Handling and maintenance of the
pile breaker are very easy and does not require special skills.
Abigroup’s range of capabilities has proved an invaluable
boom for the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) and its
implementation of a much needed new coal export terminal located
at Kooragang Island in Newcastle which is designed with the capacity
for future expansion.
Once completed the third coal export terminal in Newcastle will
be the largest single stage development of a new coal terminal
in the world. Abigroup commenced work in September 2008.
ThyssenKrupp Steelcom offers total piling solutions including
hire and sell of steel sheet piles, impact and vibratory piling
hammers ranging from excavator mounted to large crane suspended
