GHK Piling
The PTC 120HD offers a massive eccentric moment of 120kgm and
centrifugal force of 2550kN.
GHK Piling 2000 limited, a Whangarei based pilingand Bridge building
company, were approached by the New Zealand Refining Company to
construct a new jetty at their Marsden point facility.
GHK Piling formed a partnership with their sister company and
Stainless Steel Project and Tauranga based Tom French Industries.
For the driving of the three 2.400mtr 16mm forty meter long piles
which were installed in three sections, GHK Piling approached ThyssenKrupp
Steelcom NZ manager Andy Fenn, with the help of his Australian
counterparts recommended using the PTC120HD Vibro hammer. Brendon
Hayward, GHK’s Project Manager said the power of this machine
proved itself through some trying ground conditions encountered
during the installation of these piles.
The jetty consists of thirteen piles connected together with custom
built steel walkways. The walkways also act to carry the required
piping out to a central fuelling platform. The jetty is being built
to accommodate a custom acquired fuel barge that will be replacingthe
existing fuelling barge in the Auckland Harbour provide marine
fuel to a growing number of cruise ships to New Zealand each year.The
completed jetty will be over 125mtrs long, consisting of over 500mtrs
of Steel cased piles, 60tons of latticed walkways, and 100tons
of reinforcing steel. With the largest pile being 2.4mtrs in diameter
and 40mtrs long, with a concrete volume of 149m3, and a reinforcing
cage weighing in over 18tons.
ThyssenKrupp Steelcom offers total piling solutions including
hire and sell of steel sheet piles, impact and vibratory piling
hammers ranging from excavator mounted to large crane suspended
units, as well as, foundation equipment and trench shoring systems.
