Thyssenkrupp Steelcom has supplied 828m² of the Larssen L755 sheet pile in 2000 cm /m section modulus to Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance for their Sugarloaf Pipeline project in Yea, Victoria.

Sheet piles were installed to provide support for ramps and proposed excavations associated with the grandstand construction.

Foundations were excavated to a maximum depth of 5 metres to accommodate a new wire rope closing machine. In total, approximately 170 sheet piles were driven to a depth of up to 12 metres.

A large component of the completed first stage of Port Melville is constructed of sheet pile. LX12, LX16, LX25, LX20, LX25 and LX32 was supplied by Steelcom Pty Ltd and an on -site facility was established to weld 12 and 16 metre piles to achieve the required 18 metre lengths.

GHK Piling

The PTC 120HD offers a massive eccentric moment of 120kgm and centrifugal force of 2550kN.

GHK Piling 2000 limited, a Whangarei based pilingand Bridge building company, were approached by the New Zealand Refining Company to construct a new jetty at their Marsden point facility.

GHK Piling formed a partnership with their sister company and Stainless Steel Project and Tauranga based Tom French Industries. For the driving of the three 2.400mtr 16mm forty meter long piles which were installed in three sections, GHK Piling approached ThyssenKrupp Steelcom NZ manager Andy Fenn, with the help of his Australian counterparts recommended using the PTC120HD Vibro hammer. Brendon Hayward, GHK’s Project Manager said the power of this machine proved itself through some trying ground conditions encountered during the installation of these piles.

Geelong Port is the largest regional port in Victoria and continues to experience stable trade growth.

McConnell Dowell, a world-class Australian based engineering, construction, building and maintenance company was the main contractor for the project.ThyssenKrupp Steelcom supplied the subcontrator KV Johnson, a Muller MS-24 HFV to be used at the Corio Quay in Geelong Port VIC. The requirements for the vibro hammer was to drive dolphin piles which utilized single jaw MS180 (180tonne clamppressure) weighing 1250kg and and double jawsMS100 (100 tonne per clamp) at 750kg each.

ABI HVR 75 Hydraulic vibrators are the most widely used equipment for driving and extracting sheet piles, casings and profiles with excellent performance and precision.

Thyssenkrupp Steelcom has supplied Marine & Civil Construction Pty Ltd. the BSP SL30da 2.5t hammer to drive piles at its Cockatoo Island Project.

The BSP SL30da hammer with a max impact energy of 30 kJ and blow rate of 84bpm, performed really well. According to the project supervisor, Kim Lamont of Marine & Civil, “the drive times were about half of that of the air hammer”.

Pile breakers dramatically increase productivity and safety when compared to conventional jack-hammer breaking.

Thyssenkrupp Steelcom has supplied Abigroup the TAETS Type 380 required for the breaking of up to 400 concrete piles at the Kooragang Island project, some of which have a strength of 50 MPa and 10 reinforcement bars. The concrete piles ranged from 600mm to 900mm in diameter.

Taets Pile Breakers were used to make easy work of the cast in-situ concrete piles of the box drain and swimming pool. A Type 314 circular pile breaker with infill links was used to break both the 400mm and 600mm diameter piles.
