straight web sheet piles are designed for the construction of cellular
cofferdams which can be used when considerable depths of water,
or subsequently placed fill are to be retained. They are also used
when it is not possible to drive far into the ground, necessitating
a free-standing gravity structure.
Typical uses of straight web piles are construction of permanent
walls for land reclamation, quays, wharfs and dolphins. They can
also be used for structures to temporarily seal off dock entrances
so that low level work can be carried out in the dry.
